The total number of gym and health club memberships have been increasing steadily every year worldwide since 2000. With this trend, combined with the overall technological trend of living a connected lifestyle, it is expected of gym equipment to be connected to the internet. Connected gym equipment can help track workout data for more effective results.

People want their workout data to be seamlessly uploaded for easy tracking. For example, a gym-goer’s heart rate is an essential data point for improving cardiovascular health or losing weight. For a moderate to intense workout, a user may want exercise in the 50 to 85 percent range of their maximum heart rate. By connecting to a wearable monitor and an internet-connected piece of gym equipment, users can easily monitor their exercise effectiveness.

At one of CIeNET’s R&D centers in Nanjing, we helped our customer implement a solution to allow users to easily monitor heart rate while exercising on cardio equipment such as treadmills or spinning bikes. After establishing a customization training plan through AI algorithms, the user can judge whether the desired training plan is completed by dynamically controlling the gym equipment. Training plans can be individually customized for each user’s predicted heart rate.
